About Me
Japanese freelance video journalist and an independent filmmaker, based in Tokyo, Japan.
Hiromi has worked for various international news media outlets including Al Jazeera, Associated Press, AFP, BBC, CNN, CGTN, FSN, and more for stories from Japan. She produces stories from initial research to filming and editing as a one-man band.
Hiromi is also experienced as a field producer or fixer for documentary films and TV programs with international crews.
Her passion for storytelling led her to the Film School of Tokyo, where she completed an advanced course in fictional film in September 2022. Her first short film "Barefoot" was selected by 35th Tokyo International Film Festival “Amazon Prime Video Take One Award” finalist, and 7th Nara International Film Festival “NARA-wave” selection. Currently working on her next film, “Hana and Koto”, which won a grant and will be partially funded by the school.
